John B. Cole's Website
I'm married to the amazing fiber artist Misty Cole. She has several pieces touring the country right now, as well as a solo show at the Kelch Aviation Museum in Brodhead, WI.
Misty and I have two awesome kids who are busy with college and work right now.
We also have two two cats who can't type, so they're not on the Internet.
My colleague from USDA, Dr. Paul VanRaden, keeps track of What [He] Did Last Week. I'm not nearly as focused as Paul, so it's unlikely that I can manage weekly updates, but I think it's an interesting idea, somewhere between BlueSky-esque microblogging and article-length compositions. You can find my poor effort here.
I play bass guitar for The Lethal Recessives. Come and see us on July 15, 2026, at the World Congress on Genetics Applied to Livestock Production meeting in Madison, WI!
I'm the author of PyPedal, which is a package for pedigree analysis written in the Python programming language. Other software projects I tinker with can be found on my GitHub page.
